I wanted to share some of mine with you. For now, I'll just list them with a short description of why I love them. I plan to post later about each one. They're that good!
1 - Better Homes and Gardens New Cook Book - full of basic information. Offers Appetizers to Meal Planning. MY "New" Cook Book edition has copyright of 1976 because that's when I started using mine. I have loved it & used it - a lot!
2 - Joy of Cooking - instructions for everything! Curious about how to fix Tofu, Kohlrabi, cut up Poultry, how to buy and prepare any fish you can imagine or make candy? This is the book! It's an encyclopedia of explanations, how to's, methods, the list goes on.
3 - Betty Crocker's Dinner for Two Cookbook - This is the very vepsion I've used since 1977. It was printed in 1973. I've started a collection of them I love them so much! If you need to cook for more than two, just double, triple, etc. the recipes.
4 - A Campbell Cookbook - Cooking with Soup - 608 skillet dishes, casseroles, stews, sauces, gravies, dips, soup mates and garnishes. I love cooking with soup!
5 - Fix-It and Forget-It Lightly - 500 Healthy, Low-Fat recipes for your slow cooker. I don't know about you but my Crock-Pot has always been my best friend. This book is also!
6 - The Art of Southern Cooking - Over 450 recipes from Southern cooks - from hors d'oeuvres and punches to pies and preserves.
If you check out any of the books listed please come back and comment with a quick review. I'll share more from these to include a recipe or two in the near future.
Thanks for visiting! Reia

My Better Homes and Gardens is a much-loved tome. So loved, in fact, that no only does it proudly wear its various food splatters, its spine is broken and the middle chunk of pages floats freely in the bookcase. I'd never part with it, nor will I replace it with a new version. It's got great stories on page after page and one day will belong to my daughter, who I hope will love it just as much as I do.

Terri from www.pushingonarope.com - so you understand my love for my also food splattered BHG cookbook. Since my daughters are older, I made sure they had their own. I'm not letting go of mine. (wink) Reia PS - I really love your blog!
Great roundup! Now if I can just find time to cook. ;)
